How to Setup Squid Proxy Server in Windows 7/8/10 or Windows Server

Today we will learn how easily you can setup Squid proxy server in Windows 7 / 8 / 10 or Windows server any versions.

Let’s begin:

Step- 1
Download Squid server from this link: https://goo.gl/ZaZmw3

Step- 2
Unzip Squid proxy server and paste into C:\ drive as mention below:
c:\squid

Step- 3
Configure the squid server type in command prompt (CMD) as mention below:

Note: Find the CMD from system32 and “Run as administrator” by right button click

cd c:\squid\sbin (Press Enter)
squid -i (Press enter for create squid service)
squid -z (Press enter for create squid log file)

Step- 4
Configure the proxy port, HTTP sites access allow/deny and log data from C:\ Squid\squid\etc\squid.conf as mention below:
Default Port: 3128
Open the squid.conf in notepad and find “http_port 3128” by typing, you can change the port: 8080

Configure HTTP sites access find “http_access deny all” by typing and change as mention below:
http_access allow all

Configure log data find “cache 100 16 256” by typing and change as mention below:
c:/squid/var/cache 5000 16 256 (Save and exit)

Step- 5
Now start the Squid service by type in command prompt (CMD) as mention below:
net start squid

Note: If you want to use this proxy any corner of the world, you may need a public IP and allow firewall the proxy port.

ping 8.8.8.8 -t (If the pinging 30-150ms that mean your connectivity is ok)

Step- 2
Clear DNS cache from your computer type in Command Prompt (CMD) as mention below:
ipconfig /flushdns

Step- 3
Clear caches from Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer as mention below:
Mozilla Firefox: Clear browser cache/history from Firefox as mention below:
Tools > Options > Privacy you may click “clear your recent history” and clear everything by selecting “Everything”

Google Chrome: Clear browser cache/history from Chrome as mention below:
Menu> Setting > History you may click “Clear browsing data” and clear everything by selecting “The beginning of time”

Internet Explorer: Clear browser cache/history from IE as mention below:
Tool> Internet Options you may click “General” and clear everything by clicking “Delete”

Boot from windows 10 DVD

Step- 2
Click Next

Step- 3
Click Repair Your Computer

Step- 4
Click Troubleshoot

Step- 5
Click Advance options

Step- 6
Click Command Prompt

Step- 7
Type in command prompt copy C:\Windows\System32\utilman.exe C:\

Step- 8
Copy CMD from System32 and replace Utilman.exe as mention below:

copy C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe C:\Windows\System32\utilman.exe (Enter and type y then press enter again and restart your system)

Step- 9
After load windows 10, click from left side Ease of Access type in CMD as mention below:

net user (Press Enter you see the entire users list, now we reset the forgotten password)
net user mrcnit * (Press enter)
Put password abc*123 Enter and put confirm password abc*123 Press Enter Again

OR

You can active and change administrator password as mention below:
net user administrator /active:yes
net user administrator * (Enter and put password and confirm password)

Important Note:
For security purpose you must need to move & replace the previous backup utilman.exe as mention below:

move C:\utilman.exe C:\Windows\System32\utilman.exe

Open the Computer system drive and follow instructions as mention below:

Find Utilman.exe from system32 and rename the file as Utilman_BK.exe the Utilman.exe patch: (C:\Windows\System32\Utilman.exe)

Copy cmd.exe file from System32 folder and paste into the system32 folder and change the cmd.exe file name as Utilman.exe

Step- 6
After load windows 7, Click from left side Ease of Access type in CMD as mention below:

net user (Press Enter you see the entire users list, now we reset the forgotten password)
net user mrcnit * (Press enter)
Put password abc*123 Enter and put confirm password abc*123 Press Enter Again
